Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Bobby León (Raphaelle Bob Garcia) is a young artist working in the professional field of photography and videography.
Her background is in Communications and Intermedia, as well as an interest in digital installations. Her personal experience as a contract based photographer has led her to work with Montreal's top contemporary dance company Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal doing dance photography and videography for new creations and promotional media. She's been working for Canadian established magazines; Loulou and Châtelaine, as well as Rudsak and Marie Saint Pierre, producing video content for their web and online platforms. More recently, she started partaking in Nick Knight's fashion photography program Mastered:Photography. Her work has had great reception from leaders in the fashion industry such as creative producer Thomas Lenthal.
" I think her work is interesting, I think the way she uses architecture in her photography is an interesting composition, it is quite beautiful. Her images are very honest and straightforward and delicate, caring and loving; there's some tenderness to her subjects that I find necessary in fashion photography. I think fashion photography can be concerned with shapes and forms and the clothing, but ultimately and essentially, it is the portrait of a human being."
Parallel to photography and videography, she has studied at the Société des Arts Technologiques, a leader organization in tech-arts, in projection mapping and interactive visuals, which has brought her to collaborate with dancers on Amota, a multi-media stage production for Bouge D'ici Festival. She has studied independently at Central Saint Martins pursuing a course in Experience Design, which she aims incorporate to her photo, video and media work, in order to broaden her upcoming creative endeavours.
